Parent Empowerment Council

The Parent Empowerment Council delivers high quality services to the parents of Pre-College Programs’ students. As their children pursue dreams of higher education, PEC parents become active participants and strong advocates along the way. PEC provides effective parent-university interaction through events and services, as well as publications.

Mission Statement :

To empower parents to take an active role in their children's education by increasing their involvement, skills, and knowledge about the college-going process.

Activities:

  • Annual Parent Empowerment Conference
  • Annual Parent-Family Weekend
  • Conduct Workshops Facilitated by Council Members
  • Saturday Academics
  • Technology Tools
  • College Visitation Tours
  • Admissions presentations, financial aid workshops
  • Extended Family Participation
  • Buddy System (Outreach & Recruitment)
  • Council members contact other parents (bilingual -to - bilingual)
  • Fundraising

Time Commitment:

  • Monthly Meeting.
  • Parent-to-Parent Mentoring (Parent Empowerment Council).
  • 6 Weeks of Training: Presentation Skills, Communication Skills and Cultural  Awareness Skills.
